Many times uncertainty clouds our vision. The Apostle
Paul, in Philippians 1:23 states that he was in a strait – one
that caused him to be betwixt 2 different desires. When we have
a choice of which road to travel, even in deciding to proceed
with church construction or not, God’s way is ALWAYS best. Paul’s
reasoning points out, that for him personally, his first choice
would be to depart this life and be with Christ. Secondarily
though, he states that his first choice would not be to the
benefit of others. Let’s examine this.
Does the possibility of starting a new project – including architecture
or church construction – fall on what’s best for you OR what
will benefit the people? Maybe this question could be couched
in a different and better way by asking “ What is my motive
to build new church facilities and is this motive originated
by God”? Do you find it strange that many church leaders do
not truly consult nor receive definite orders from the greatest
Architect the world has even known, before they engage in a
building project? He is the one who crafted not only the earth
and all that is therein but flung the stars into space and created
unexplored area of the oceans deep. He knows both how to design
and how to build – and He knows if and when to implement a project.
When humanity begins to plan for new church facilities to be
erected, we have access to a Consultant extraordinaire. If Gallup
could effectively poll leadership and find out whether their
proposed project was originated and energized by man’s desire
OR if the Consultant was consulted first, what do you think
the polls would reflect? The Consultant route is not only the
safest but the only route. All others pale in comparison. When
we KNOW that God’s will has been made known and that our decision
to begin a project has His stamp of certification on it, then
we can move forward in confidence. Confidence, built on a foundation
of God’s revealed will, can be a powerful tool when the congregation
uses it. If second guessing, internal strife and malaise raise
their heads, be reminded, by your confidence in God’s revealed
will, that you are to move forward in harmony, single-mindedness
and correct project vision.
A myriad of challenges arise in the world of church architecture,
financing and construction. There is one way to face these –
simply knowing what God has definitely lead you to do. If you
have secured this knowledge then march into the Promised Land,
based on His revealed will, not on plans originated by human
based will and strategy.
